Plantation Mentality towards CCW Issuance
Many people post on other sites and some contact me with questions about illegal requirements for CCW issuance. There exists what I call 'Plantation Mentaliity'. That is where applicants will jump through hoops and all manner of other illegal requirements in order to be issued a CCW. I hear the same mantra. Gee, its okay, because the department is virtually Shall Issue. That is as informed a statement as 'I only vote for Sheriff based upon their CCW policies. Is this what society has come to?
Some are willing to incrementally give up their Constitutional rights and abandon common sense in order to be anointed with a CCW. Come on folks, we as a people are better than that.
Minimum residence requirements are illegal. How can your time in the county have any bearing whatsoever if you have Good Cause? A Superior Court Judge would throw that out in a nanosecond.
Requiring applicants to apply on a Departmental Application rather than the mandated DOJ Application. 12051(3)(A)PC Makes this a violation of state law. If you folks keep allowing your rights to be abused just because you might be issued, it raises serious questions as to your integrity, which in my view should disqualify you to have a CCW. If your integrity is a question at the time of application, what about after a shooting?
I do not advocate suing Chiefs and Sheriffs just because you can. But, if you allow a law enforcement official to violate the Constitution or statute for self interest, what does that say about you?
If these officials are called to task when illegal requirements are discovered we will have a more equitable system.
